Rental Agreement

Last updated [DATE]

This covers a single charger rental — what you pay, how you return it, and what happens if it is damaged or never comes back.

Draft — not yet reviewed. This document is a starting template. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the bracketed fields still need real values. Have counsel review it before relying on it.

1. What you are renting

A VYLT portable power bank, with USB-C, Lightning and micro-USB cables built into the housing. The charger remains the property of [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] throughout the rental, unless it converts to a sale under section 5.

2. Starting a rental

Tap a card or phone at any VYLT station. A charger releases and the rental begins at that moment. No app or account is required.

3. Charges

Rentals are billed at [RATE] per hour, capped at a flat daily maximum of [DAILY CAP] per 24-hour period. Billing stops when the charger is seated in a slot at any station in the network.

4. Returning

Return the charger to any open slot at any VYLT station. Push it in until it seats; the station confirms the return and ends the session. If a station is full, take the charger to another station — leaving it with venue staff does not end your rental, because staff cannot close the session.

5. Non-return

If a charger is not returned within [NON-RETURN WINDOW], the rental converts to a sale: you are charged a one-time non-return fee of [NON-RETURN FEE], the hourly billing stops, and the charger is yours to keep. No further rental charges accrue after that point.

6. Damage

Normal wear is expected and never charged for. If a charger is returned with damage beyond normal use — crushed housing, severed cables, water or fire damage — the non-return fee in section 5 may apply.

7. Safety

  • Stop using a charger immediately if it becomes hot, swells, smells of burning, or is visibly damaged, and return it to a station.
  • Do not open, puncture, submerge or incinerate a charger.
  • Do not leave a charger in a hot car or in direct sun for extended periods. Lithium cells degrade and can fail at high temperatures.
  • Keep chargers away from small children.

Report any safety incident to support@vylt.com straight away.

8. The venue's role

The business hosting the station is not a party to this agreement. They do not handle rentals, cannot end your session, and are not responsible for the charger, your device, or any charges.

9. Your device

You are responsible for deciding whether to connect a charger to your device. To the extent permitted by law, VYLT is not liable for damage to a device arising from ordinary use of a charger, and our liability is limited as set out in our Terms of Service.

10. Disputes and refunds

If a charge looks wrong, email support@vylt.com within [DISPUTE WINDOW] with the station location and approximate time. We will review the station’s record of the session and refund anything charged in error.
